Papua New Guinea is a country in Oceania in the Pacific Ocean, and one of the most diverse on earth, with over 850 indigenous languages and at least as many traditional societies. It has a rich cultural history dating back to almost 50,000 years ago, and is a prominent destination for international tourism in the oceanic region.
Renowned as one of the worlds last frontiers, much of Papua New Guinea remains unexplorerd culturally and geographically, with roughly 18% of the countries population living in urban centres. Many of the natives occupying the country still live by traditional standards, building houses from natural resources and sourcing food and drink from their natural surroundings. Hunting, fishing and farming is widely practiced by locals and natives.
Our professional photographers from Cairns, Queensland have travelled to Papua New Guinea and captured vast amounts of high definition digital photography. A selection of the best of these photographs are included in this gallery, with images ranging from indigenous people and villagers, to the mining operations in Misima.
