I have worked on many indigenous communication projects, including voice over and character design for the HITnet - University of Queensland - Queensland Health "Risky Business" project.
I started work experience with Visual Obsession in 2006 where I completed my Certificate 4 in IT – Websites traineeship, I am currently working full-time at Visual Obsession as Graphic Designer, Office Administration and Onsite Talent.
I find it much easier to work hands on and interact face to face with clients. I’d prefer that than just studying at TAFE or University straight out of text books. It also gave me a better idea of what it’s like in the real workforce. I have noticed that students that have come in from TAFE or University looking for work don’t have some of the basic skills needed in the workplace.
I’d definitely recommend to anyone a traineeship in a workplace, it is a great way to achieve a certificate in multimedia. My traineeship was competency based therefore it is marked completed and signed off depending on my ability to perform a certain task. The time frame all depends on the trainee’s knowledge, dedication and ability to learn.
Multimedia and Social Media is ongoing and relentless in the rapidly changing industry. I have learnt many skills at Visual Obsession not only multimedia but also skills I use in day to day life.
